Nicola & Brian Butler present “An Aboriginal perspective. Cultural safety in service delivery including a personal account of the life of Eliza Gordon, Brian’s Grandmother and Nicola’s Great Grandmother.“
Brian Butler and his niece Nicola Butler are the individuals behind the Lateral Love & Spirit of Care for all Humankind, and The Decade of Lateral Love Around the World 2012 – 2022 Campaign.
A product and culmination of their joint life works promoting an ongoing, living, breathing environment for positive discussions, development of resources and suggestions for change that will have a lasting impact for Communication, Respect, Human Rights, Social Inclusion and the Spiritual and Emotional Wellbeing for all peoples in this country and around the world.
Since the inception of Lateral Love Australia on 23rd January 2012, born out of desperation at the devastatingly high rate of Aboriginal and Islander youth suicide in this country, after laying another of our their family members to rest at the hand of suicide through Lateral Violence, Brian and Nicola embarked on this journey together in the hope that a National Action Plan would develop to ensure Cultural Safety Programs become a mandatory directive for all Corporations, Organisations, Government Departments and Agencies, thus ensuring a culturally competent workforce that can operate from a position of personal accountability for knowledge and understanding to enact positive change on the ground regardless of our occupations.
