Patient Transport Services – SA Ambulance Service
Dean Clarke has been a Paramedic for over 30 years and has done everything from delivering babies, to providing medical assistance on the track at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
But the Lockleys man says it’s the simple satisfaction he gets from helping people that has kept him in the job for so long.
“Sometimes it’s just routine, taking someone to the hospital for an appointment,” Dean says “But you always go home knowing that you’ve assisted someone.”
His work with the SA Ambulance Service was acknowledged in 2008 when he was awared with an Emergency Services Medal by the State Government and again in 2013 with the Ambulance Service Medal.
Whilst he is honoured with the awards Dean says he is always slightly embarrased by the recognition.
“It is an honour and I am humbled by it, but really I am just doing my job and I accept my awards on behalf of my team.”
Dean started out as a Paramedic back in 1979 and is currently the General Manager for Patient Transport Services.
